From the Lens: Best of 2025

Photography is what fuels me when I’m not doing my other media videography jobs and the year 2025 was no different.

Part of me thinks this is my best year in this field. Not because I got to venture into different content, but feeling like I’m gelling with the type of creativity I want people to recognize.

Like last year, I’ve decided to showcase all my works, including motorsports rather than the latter having its independent list. I’ve alluded it to in my season-closing blog where circumstances have put a poor taste in my mouth regarding the landscape of racing.

If anything else, this decision came down to capitalizing on the range I bring to the table and not be put in a box as just a motorsports photographer. While it’s featured in this reflection post, I’m more than that and it’s always the goal!

That said, if you like to check out my favorite works over the years, underneath is where you get to see previous blogs where I discuss my images.

FROM THE LENS SERIES (MAIN): 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024

FROM THE LENS SERIES (MOTORSPORTS): 2022 | 2023

Without further ado, here’s my 25 favorite photos I’ve taken this year!

Kick the Dust Up

It was a rough Saturday for several NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers at Portland International Raceway, especially during practice and qualifying.

Among the many drivers who struggled at Turn 11 was Alon Day, who picked up some grass after missing the corner.

Never fun when the car is filled with dirt and grass on their grill and affects the tires. Plus, it makes the section of the road course hectic when grass is all over the pavement.

The Royal Boom

The one Everett Royals game I went to shoot photos certainly got chippy. This was one of the plays where you can sense the booming passion as the Royals made the King County Jets humble.

It was one of my better photos I had during the game that was played at Lake Stevens High School.

Beloved Player’s Duel

Two of the more popular WNBA players in Gabby Douglas (Seattle Storm) and Paige Bueckers (Dallas Wings) were battling it out in their summer matchup.

For what it’s worth, I was able to get some clever shots during the Storm season. This was one of the better in-game action images of the year and it’s neat seeing Bueckers in action in the Pacific Northwest.

The Battle of Yesteryears

Without fail, Creeptacular brings some peculiar, sexy and at times wild moments. This falls in the peculiar category because the lady dressed up as a viking (at least to me) was in a sword battle with a knight.

In this shot, I wanted to get a unique perspective to highlight the fun between them. I could’ve picked 1-3 more from the event, but it’s one of those deals where I want my works to be on the subtle side.

A Sea of Flair Colors

One of the reasons why I took this long in finalizing my favorite photos of 2025 was because I had an urge of getting one last event in and hope for the best.

The event in subject was Vibra Libre at the Vermillion in Seattle. Before it began, I noticed some vibrant colors and wanted to play around for a few minutes.

What I like about this image is the vibrant colors that gave me tremendous Seattle vibes, but also one of the many in-ring gears Charlotte Flair has had over the years.

It’s not often I get to play around with lights because I’m usually trying to focus on the event at hand. This was one of the more relaxing events I had all year long.

A Skye Splash

While I would’ve wished to have gotten both the subject and water focused, it was fun trying to get a photo of Skye trying to splash water in the air.

It did ended up getting my camera, but that was the point of the image. I was hoping to get a clever image to cap off the final day of Refuge Outdoor Festival, one of my favorite events I’m happy to be capturing photos.

Long Time Return to the Cove

Good ‘ol La Jolla Cove. It may smell like otter and seagull substances, but it’s own lovely vibe.

The waves really helped make the image come to life on a cold January morning. The overall vibes is nicer when there’s not many people around to fully enjoy the site and sounds.

The Never-Ending West Coast Battle

Double overtime.

Enough said.

Okay, before the game that never wanted to end, the Seattle Storm and Los Angeles Sparks matchup was stressful to shoot. You can sense it with the battle between Kelsey Plum (Sparks) and Nneka Ogwumike (Storm).

Whether it’s a rebound or trying to pull a layup, the game of women’s basketball provides some sense of what makes the sport unique. Physical to the bitter end and the fire of winning.

Plant for the Masses

I think about Depeche Mode’s “Little 15” when I see some of the photos I took at Balboa Park back in January.

Henceforth, the word play of the band’s 1987 album Music for the Masses. It was the album I was playing while there and “Little 15” was the track I played on repeat, especially when capturing this closeup shot of the water drops the green plants had.

One of my more prouder images of 2025.

Ground Level Point of View

I didn’t get many chances to shoot volleyball because of my other jobs during the fall period. However, when I did, which was the last home game of the season, I wanted to try something different.

That being a ground level shot of the action between the Edmonds Tritons and Everett Trojans. This was my favorite of the bunch and I hope to utilize this angle better next season, gigs permitted.

The Summer of Zilisch

Connor Zilisch was a wheelman, even if he was in pain.

After injuring himself after falling out of his car in victory lane at Watkins Glen, he only drove a small bit of the race at Daytona before handing driving duties over to Parker Kligerman, a race he was able to score the win.

However, per the NASCAR rulebook, Zilisch is credited with the win, thus continuing his hot streak of victories.

Fast forward to Portland, Zilisch went the distance and brought home another win for the No. 88 team in what was a defining summer for the star in the making.

One of my favorite burnout shots I’ve gotten in my entire career. It helps to get a strong angle and if you look closely, Zilisch pretty much summed up his summer of dominance.

“Peace out, dudes!”

Winter Sunset Glamour

In one of the only candid portraits I got in 2025 (accepting bookings for those right now), it was a pleasure collaborating with Yennie.

There were so many images I loved, but this one was one of the more unique ones I got because it’s a blend of personality, shadows and a golden hour sunset.

After multiple attempts in getting the angle I wanted to show her and the shadows, I was thrilled how this one came out.

A Sodding Accident

Some more grass for your viewing pleasure!

How’s a big chunk of sod being kicked in by Jake Finch during the ARCA race at Daytona work?

It’s never ideal to run over the grass because it becomes the splitter’s number-one enemy. Oftentimes, it further damages a stock car and make the expense bill shoot up to 11.

I love the details of the sod of grass and while it’s vertical, I can live with it.

The Calm Before the Storm

Among the cool things I got to do for a brief moment was capture candid photos of Ryan Preece and family before the Daytona 500.

The night was rough for Preece, who once again went airborne at the track that brought out a red flag. Fortunately, Preece was okay.

As for the photo itself, it was a neat moment with his daughter looking towards me while Preece was laser focused on what lied ahead.

Danza Rave

Dancing to music lifts up people’s souls, especially if the tracks the DJ are performing hits the right feelings as shown with this shot.

The gal on the right certainly was a show stealer and danced the night away. I went with this shot because it highlighted the personality to an absolute tee.

Images like this one was worth delaying the annual photography blog! It was taken last Saturday by the way.

Feel the Swirl Rainbow

One of the things I’ve purchased leading up to the 2025 motorsports season were some filters. The event I used it more was during Supercross, especially before the riders hit the track for qualifying.

Sometimes, you need to find the right colors and the perfect angle to get excellent results. So far, nothing have topped this image in that regard.

Just Another Manic Saturday

“I guess it’s fun for someone to rip off hundred bills evidently.”

Ryan Newman said that after the 2020 Busch Clash at Daytona, a week before he had the worst crash of his career.

Those words rings so well, especially when there’s a late-race crash at these damn superspeedways. This year’s Xfinity Series race was no different as in this shot, Parker Retzlaff (4), Christian Eckes (16), and William Sawalich (18) saw their chances of a good result go up in smoke.

Golden Hour Stroll

Mission Beach in San Diego is one of my vacation safe places.

I just love the vibe and feeling of the place the two times I’ve gone in 2019 and 2025.

The sunsets are just pure bliss in “The Finest City.”

More sweet when you have people in the background who paint the visuals, making it easier for me when least expected.

Finding the Horizon

The morning after the NASCAR race weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, I spent time shooting photos of Crystal at Mountains Edge Regional Park.

One of the last areas I shot was the desert mountain with Crystal wearing a white dress. Quite the adventure of getting these shots with this monochrome shot being a favorite of mine. Even better with some cloud spots to create an incredible visual.

As the Cyndi Song Goes, But It’s a Squirrel

I’m taking a page out of a friend’s bio motto that’s associated with Cyndi Lauper’s smash hit, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

In this particular photo, the squirrel just wanna have fun, you know?

These critters are a pain to capture without them running away. I had to crop the shot to make it tighter and I’m glad it didn’t lose its image quality. I really love this image I got to kick off the second day of this year’s Refuge Outdoor Festival.

Eyes on What Lies Ahead

A simple photo of Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink warming-up with two basketballs.

Similar to what I did with my volleyball image earlier, I wanted a ground level shot. In fact, this shot was the main influence because it made for a cool angle in a period where I could get such shots.

One Perspective After Another

Chase Briscoe exited out of his car as he sees his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin celebrate victory in this year’s South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The victory punched Hamlin’s ticket into the Championship 4 and one of the last positive moments he had in 2025. The less is said about it, the better because it’s a sad, frustrating and tragic story following this race victory.

As for the image itself, it showcases the thrill of victory (Hamlin) and the agony of defeat (Briscoe). The latter would win the following race at Talladega, but like Hamlin, he came up short of winning the championship.

Bring the Heat to a Summer Afternoon

The Lynnwood Luau was one of the fun events I got to work in 2025 with the final act stealing the show. I’m the type of guy who thrives on capturing these tight shots.

Diving for the Industry

Ultimate disc is a game of inches and efficiency, especially when you’re trying to put points on the table.

A valiant effort by an Oregon Steel player came up short, but he damn sure tried catching the disc. It one of the best sports images I’ve captured in my entire journey to date from a sport that’s fun to capture shots.

This time around, it was more daring for the players to keep the drive alive or in this case, and I emphasize this again, score points!

Rad: Reincarnated

If you’ve seen the 1986 film Rad, you can guess what type of shot I was going for!

After media scrum, several riders ran laps around the San Diego layout where in one spot, I had a cool angle to get the shots from above with the sun only being blocked by the rider.

I spent a few minutes getting the “rad” shot I was looking for and this was the best out of the bunch where you can see the rider’s face. That’s exactly what I was aiming for to really bring the image to life.

It’s the sole reason why this is my favorite image of 2025!

If you haven’t seen the cult classic film in the two-wheel community, I’m going to share it below. Plus, it’s an excuse to “break the ice” that’ll lead to my outro remarks!

With 2025 coming to a close, I hope you enjoy some of my works and the stories behind them! It was a big year for my brand and hope to continue doing more content throughout 2026.
